The Spirit of Vijayadashami

According to Hindu mythology, this day Lord Ram returned victorious to Ayodhya, and today on Vijayadashami, Saahil also returns triumphant to India. Yes, Saahil & team won the competition they took part in!!! Three cheers to them! They would land in Mumbai at 10 tonight. Welcome back, love!

He tells me it was a very memorable experience and that any Indian city has the potential to emerge as organized and beautiful as those cities are. The only thing lacking is attitude. I feel he's quite right. After all, nothing is impossible! They'd been to the famous Horse Shoe falls as well. Will speak to him at length, once he gets back, and hear his experiences in vivid detail.

Another victory being celebrated is by a guy called Nimish. Half the country knows his tale of horror. Those beasts have been booked. One is behind bars and the others have been suspended. I was so thankful to my Lord for this wonderful show of justice! Power is, more often than not, misused by those who have it. Rather than put it to good use, people almost always abuse it. Hope the bureaucracy learns a lesson or two from this episode.

On the down side, we have yet another natural calamity to face...an earthquake that's rattled the Indian subcontinent. I don't understand this spate of tragedies that Nature is throwing down upon us. The casualities are mounting at an alarming rate. And for the first time in decades India has sent relief material to Pakistan. Our PM is of the opinion that politics shouldn't cast its shadow on humanitarian work! Thunderous applause for the noble man! That's something we don't hear often now-a-days! I wonder if someone out there is composing another of those ridiculous mails, like the one we had last time on Katrina. The situation is really bad in the quake-hit areas...and all we can do is gape appalled, at the TV screens and send up prayers. Wish they find the strength to move ahead with life.

I have a lot to look forward to today. Apart from the obvious reason of Saahil's return, Star Movies is airing Titanic tonight. Seriously, I can't get enough of this movie! Now, I've lost track of how many times I watched it! Then a local channel is putting up a Telugu film called Arya. A friend once told me about this movie and I've wanted to watch it ever since. I can pick up Telugu reasonably well and so hope to follow the story. I liked the concept of the movie so much that I'm going to write a post on it one of these days! Also, I have a telephonic interview scheduled today, as part of my company-changing plans. Wee-bit nervous about it. But it's ok! Me only keen about doing my best! No chance of going to dandiya nights this time also! Yeah, I've never been to one! Thought of going this time, but my exams and a small accident my best friend had, are playing spoil-sports! Chalo, some other time!

So here I take leave and brace myself for the action-packed day ahead! And Saahil, Aayiye, Aajayiye, Aahijayiye...Yun na reh rehke hume tarsayiye!!!

Comments:

hey Vidhi ..hapy vijayadashami! and congratulations to Saahil and his team! and what he said about Indian cities is so true...we need the right attitude sachi!

I read about Nimish. It was indeed horrific, but I am glad he did recieve justice. But think about it, if this was a poor guy who had no internet access and no network his misfortune woudl have been lost somewhere without anyone knowing. I am very happy that Nimish managed to recieve justice and those crooks needed to be taught a lesson,....but I only hope publicized cases like these will have our govt officials in power on their toes and tthey do not misuse their power with anyone!

Aur yeh earthquake! I think mother nature is reminding us that she still has a lot of power and control over us while we continuously try to exploit her. Prayers for those effected by the earthquake :)

Hi Vidhi, Hope u were also victorious with ur call. And many congratulations to Saahil on his victory.

About those 'forwards' I guess one shud be coming up soon - this earthquake happened on 8th - and as it is we hv all read about the date 26th often now (numeroligically wise 26th adds upto 8)

And I agree fully with PM saab, no point in bringing politics on humanitarian fronts - how can people be callous to even think of this.

IN any case, ordinarily also i hv no problem with Pakistan as long as it admits that India is better country ;-))

Take care...
